Filthy Rags to God’s Grace

The other night, Warren was deeply immersed with reading the book of Luke (which he always does) when he suddenly bobbed his head from behind his Bible to share with me what he understood from the verse.
“To me, this means we as Christians are representatives of Christ, so wherever we go, whoever it is we are talking to, we should always remember that we are there to represent Christ, then there is really no need to tell them, “hey, I’d like to invite you to our church…”, instead, we can go right ahead and evangelize from there…”
I have forgotten what part in the book of Luke that is, but I remember coming by his side and reading it to see how I would understand what is written. I agree with my husband.
The following morning, we were walking around the community for morning exercise when he expressed his fear of not being able to share more openly with other people, of not being able to evangelize and of not being a zealous soldier of God.
I have always known my husband to be an introvert, in fact when we first met; I repeatedly had to ask him what was bothering him because there were moments during that day when he would just cave in, like something would wrap around him that not even I could get through. He would be staring from afar and be silent for minutes on end. I thought then it was just me being naturally a motor mouth and not liking long pauses and silence, but I soon learned that many people around Warren do notice that about him. And yes, I have come to accept that Warren really is the silent type, I mean, there are times he’d withdraw from everyone and be comfortable in being alone – whether physically or mentally.
With this intimate knowledge about my husband’s character, I was also at a lost on how we could remedy that problem of his, all I could think of is his blog – what better way to use that blog, isn’t it? Well, he knew that too, apparently and have been thinking about it, but he felt he needed a little more encouragement.
I have always regarded Warren’s blog as unique – in form, in conviction, in content, in presentation. I have always liked that about Filthy Rags to God’s Grace, it has its own character and I have always believed it is what sets it apart from all the rest. I mentioned James Frey to Warren this morning and how much of his writing style resembled Frey’s and he looked at me blankly and asked “James who?” I said, “James Frey, Honey… You know… A million little pieces…” and he was like, “Oh… Yeah…” There was a long pause after that as if he was thinking “Who is James Frey and what is million little pieces?” and then when it (I think) finally sank in, he agreed that they almost have the same writing style.
Well, today I would like to dedicate my post to Filthy Rags to God’s Grace and truly, I must say this, if my blog inspires a lot of women out there, then Warren’s blog will surely inspire a lot of men. Well, women too, I dare say on second thought. Warren has a deeper understanding of the Scriptures and he always finds something good to share even in the simplest of things or situations.
Yeah, yeah… This is a link love attempt… Can’t blame a wife who loves her husband big time, now can you? ![]()
Oh, by the way, he did a very beautiful experiment yesterday, it’s a timelapse of the setting sun in Manila Bay and it is sooooo grand… Do check it out here.
