Dads

During last Wednesday’s regular Prayer Meeting, Warren and I sat at the back giving me the opportunity to observe the people in church more closely.![]()
I could not help but notice the relationships between the Dads and their lovely little ones. Actions speak louder than words, and if their body languages are not enough, I don’t know what other proof they still need to show to put a stamp of validity to this claim/post.
First, there was Bro. Norman holding little Kharis in his arms. Little Kharis, who just turned one year old this month, can be ultra-hyper at times. One would think that Daddy Norman would just as easily put the baby in Mommy Gigi’s lap to let her do the babysitting, but no. He’d walk from end to end, swaying little Kharis as gently as he can so the little one will fall asleep. ![]()
Then, there’s Pastor Neil, who took his two girls along because little Joy is sick at home with Mommy Vilma. From time to time, I’d catch a glimpse of Daddy Neil giving his daughter a quick embrace.
I also saw Bro. Itel steal a quick kiss on his daughter’s head and then let his arms dangle loosely by her shoulders while he sat in the between the youngster and Mommy Jojie, his wife.
There was also Bro. Noel who was giving Mommy Vangie a massage with his right hand while the left was handing out a biscuit to not-so-little Gab.
Bro. Lito is not as showy as the four mentioned above, but I know he is also a very loving father based on some stories he’d quickly tell us in church, like that incident with Sarah’s school teacher and that little problem Micah had with her classmates. Well, he is a little bit on the “non-mushy” side of the fence, but he is undoubtedly a supportive dad.
As we lay in bed that night, Warren and I discussed my observations and he wondered aloud about himself.
“Ako kaya? Pag may anak na tayo… Do you think I will be like one of them?”
“Would you want to be?” I asked.![]()
“Yes.”
“Then you will be…”
With that, we gave each other goodnight kisses and said our goodnights.
Note: Last photo shows another “Dad”, Pastor Larry John Sy, in a candid moment with the children of DCCC. Pastor Larry is like a father to many members of DCCC because of his nurturing spirit and unwavering leadership, by God’s grace.
