Blogging Truths in a Deceptive World

Mom

(Mom and me taking a trip down memory lane the night before my wedding)

I’d like to dedicate this post to the most wonderful mom, EVER. My mom.

I have nothing mushy to say, nothing heart-stopping or tear-jerking. I just want to lay down the facts to make you all understand why, to me, MY mom is definitely IRREPLACEABLE.

First, she was born to a poor family, her mother (my Lola Juana) raised her by selling rice cakes in our barrio. My lolo died when my mom was only a few months old so, Lola Juana was a single mom. Now, with that being said, my mom never saw poverty as a hindrance to getting good education. She worked her way through college, and now, she only has one more year left before finally retiring from public school teaching.

Second, Mom married, had kids, sacrificed and endured for the sake of a million and one reasons, but on top of all these reasons is just one – HER UNDYING LOVE FOR MY DAD.

Third, did I say endured on the previous paragraph? Well, yeah. Let me say that again with more emphasis: ENDURED. She’s gone through the toughest and darkest days, but she came out of it all, well probably scathed but still very much alive in faith and hope. I wish I could go through every minutest detail, but, let’s just say that her marriage had its share of tribulations.

Fourth, she raised five kids, moulded them into the kind of persons they are today, inspired them, taught them values, kept LOVE alive in their hearts despite and inspite of — all of these and more, while she worked 24/7 in Hong Kong as a domestic helper for 13 years.

Fifth, she raised me. I was such as rascal, lol! I wouldn’t dream of raising myself, no way! (and as self-preservation, I dare not go into details about myself, but, you can read all that here anyway)

Sixth… She raised me and my sister. My father’s daughters from another woman. And then, she loved us with all her heart and with all her soul that we never felt the difference or knew the difference. That’s just how big her heart is, it has extra rooms for two more people. We grew up knowing no other woman as our mom besides her.

I could go on and on and on… But if I do, then I’ll never finish this post in time for Mother’s Day.

Mom, I love you! There will never be a moment that I won’t love you… And you know that. :)
