The Revelation of Eve’s Heart
“The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” Genesis 3:2-3 (NIV)
the woman’s logic was aroused
its her chance to prove to Satan and to herself that she knows more than she thinks
Satan began with a false question arousing Eve’s logic (Genesis 3:1)
challenging her wits
tempting her to prove her worth to the world
but Eve responded wrongly
“but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” Genesis 3:3 (NIV)
Eve wanted to add a little spice of God’s commands
she feels that God’s clear command could use a little creativity
it needs a little more convincing
“i dont think the command God made was convincing enough”
“it needs to evoke a sense of seriousness:”
“…and you must not touch it…”
now in this picture there are already 2 characters twisting God’s clear command already
God’s command:
“but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:17 (NIV)
Satan’s question:
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1 (NIV)
Eve’s answer:
“‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” Genesis 3:3 (NIV)
at this point Satan did not see the seriousness of Eve’s answer
even if the phrase is obviously more serious, humanly speaking, than God’s “…you must not eat of it…”
not only that they’re not allowed to eat of it, but they’re not even allowed to touch it
now whats wrong with this intention?
if she kept this in mind, it would lessen the chances of eating the fruit
it would perhaps please God in the process!
but no
her intentions may be good
but the issue is not about using one’s own good intentions
the issue is about obeying God’s commands
and obeying God’s commands will make the intention good
Satan saw the disobedience
thats why he wasnt convinced with Eve’s conviction on protecting the fruit
no
Satan wasnt the type of character that man can convince
Satan may have seen Eve’s efforts
her creativity
her intentions
her zealousness to please God
but what Satan saw was Eve’s exagerated reply
what Satan saw was Eve’s capability to add to God’s words
the capability to use her own logic
her own well earned knowledge
her pride to use her own understanding (Proverbs 3:5)
this was the flaw that Satan saw
Satan realizes that if Eve would rely on her understanding rather than on God’s words, she then can be convinced otherwise
because Satan’s target is the understanding of Eve
and since the understanding of Eve is of her own, it can be twisted (John 15:4)
thus
Eve’s sinful heart was revealed

You said “Eve’s sinful heart was revealed.” Her heart was pure as sin didn’t enter the world until Adam ate of the fruit. “By one man sin entered the world…” I believe God did actually tell them not to touch it, that this was added to His command and this is the first time we are hearing about it. Just as he told the people time not to touch the mountain or the ark or they would die. Eve didn’t have a sinful heart, but she was able to be deceived, which is entirely different.

Hi Nancy,
thanks for your comments. may God forgive me for such erroneous interpretation. I believe you are correct.
Christ was also labeled as the last Adam (1 Cor 15:45) because the first Adam failed. Adam was a type of Jesus (Rom 5:14). Innocent and without sin. But the first Adam failed upon being deceived, and the last Adam overcame the temptation of Satan (Mt 4). Thus because of Adam’s disobedience, sin (or death) came in to the world. And because of the obedience of Christ life came in to the world because He overcame the temptations. so Christ was like that second chance that Adam failed to fulfill.
If, as I said, that Eve had a sinful heart, then Adam would also have sinful heart
And if they both had a sinful heart, that would make Christ to have that same sinful heart because Christ was the type of Adam or the last Adam.
and if Christ would have that sinful heart, then our His death as that “spotless lamb” won’t make sense
because for us to be saved, there must be someone spotless or perfectly righteous to die on the cross for us
