Settling In

Finally, Warren and I are beginning to feel settled. It’s been a really hectic week for us both and it certainly felt like we were lost for a time.
We moved from Quezon City to Angeles City on the 24th of May. The house we were supposed to be moving into was still under construction at that time, there were changes Warren made to the original interior and it took longer than expected for the finishing touches to be applied. While waiting, we had to stay with my parents for a week so we sort of had to adjust to the new setting. We were so used to being just the two of us that having nieces and a nephew, parents and other people coming and going inside the house is a bit “unsettling”, but it also felt good to be home. Warren, though he was obviously culture-shocked, was also glad to be here. By Friday evening though, we were already feeling out of it, I missed doing my usual routine – cooking meals, housekeeping, doing grocery shopping and the freedom to hug and kiss whenver the mood strikes. Warren, on the other hand, told me he already missed my cooking.
On Saturday morning, we finally moved all of our stuff inside our new home, the electricians arrived to install electricity and we finally have water running from the faucets. Warren and I spent the whole day fixing each room– it was a day spent organizing, fixing, installing, drilling and hammering.
That night, we stared at our surroundings happily and peacefully. Although there are still a few missing items and a few things that needs fixing, it still felt soooo good to finally be home, for real.

Today, Monday, I cooked our first meal in our first real home. Oh, it was nothing special, just sibot and rice, but it certainly tasted good. We also entertained our first visitors, my brother and the cable men from Globe. I also re-potted my first plant and I can’t wait till I find the time to work on the garden where Warren will eventually hold Bible Studies…
Ahhh, the future looks so much brighter from this vantage point… Praise God for His endless blessings…
