Teammate

Warren told me about a blog he read yesterday, to which I credit today’s post to. Pity I do not know the aforementioned blog’s URL or I would have at least linked it here.
Anyway, my husband mentioned that the blogger wrote about Christians who hate each other despite the fact that they are all on the same boat.
He specifically mentioned Joel Osteen and his, uh, so-called “haters”. The young fellow was quite aghast that Osteen’s “detractors” refuse to consider him a Christian and that so many people are so angry at him. The blogger further wrote that “teammates” do not hit each other, instead they work together.
I’d like to commend the blogger for his well-meaning post, however, I’d also like to make a point about how Osteen, and other professing Christians (the likes of Rick Warren and Hinn in the US and Sanchez and Lapiz in the Philippines, etc), have over the years strayed away from the True Gospel in favor of more worldly privileges and how this clearly separates them from the “team” which they claim to belong.
Being in a team means having that same, unified goal. Your visions, values, beliefs and principles are the same and your stand is the same as everyone else’s in the team. My initial reaction when Warren told me about it is: “what makes him conclude that Osteen is in the same team as the ones who preach the Truth, say MacArthur for example?”
Perhaps, this is a good question for those who have been out there wondering whatever happened to “christianity”, those who are so confused all they see are “Christians bashing other Christians” and those who have come to conclude that Christians antagonize fellow Christians all the time.
Other questions you might care to ask yourselves include:
1) What is Christianity, really?
2) What does the Bible say about what these people teach?
3) Is it Biblical?
Always, we recommend going to the final and only Authority for any concerns and misconceptions anyone might be having – SCRIPTURES. Read: R-E-A-D. Read and understand what is written in the Bible so that you may be able to discern. It is the only way for us to determine the truth from the false so that we may be able to separate ourselves from those who do not belong to the “team”.
