Blogging Truths in a Deceptive World

The Old Me

I was browsing through a friend and former employee’s multiply account and saw some of our old photos together. I should have cringed at the sight of me but instead, showed it to Warren and we laughed. Looking at the photos, Warren commented “Grabe, parang hindi ikaw ah! Ang layo!” (“wow, it’s like looking at a different person! so different!”) and we both agreed it would be nice to post the pictures here for you to see God’s work in me.

This was me last year, these photos were taken in June of 2007 during our team building in San Fabian, Pangasinan.

Notice both hands on both pictures, there’s always something going on in both. The other one would always be holding a can of beer, while the other would always be holding a lighted cigarette stick! (The second one is not so obvious but I was flicking one in here, believe me.)
The last time I had beer/alcohol was on my wedding party, I was handed a bottle of cold beer and I only managed to take one swig.
It’s also been a while since that last cold turkey, I’ve quit since November and by God’s grace I have managed to restrain myself from picking up one more stick.
Truly, its amazing how God transformed me – heart, mind and soul. And I could never thank and praise Him enough for such grace and mercy which I so do not deserve.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV
