Blogging Truths in a Deceptive World

God’s blessed children

I had to wait this long for the adrenaline rush to subside. I had a tremendously trying week and I am just relieved that I am finally looking at a fresh start.

I have not heard from the Department of Social Welfare yet, I have sent them an email regarding the lady who was selling her baby and I really want to see through the resolution of the matter. I hope that the said department will act on it before everything else falls apart for the poor young girl. At this point, I refuse to point fingers at the government, at how poorly they are managing the distribution of wealth in this country or even on how scandalously corrupt our government officials are. I refuse to believe that it is because of this and of poverty that there are people who would think that selling their unborn babies is the answer to their problem.

We are all accountable for our actions, no matter what our status in life is. If you are so poor you cannot afford to raise a child, don’t make one. And yes, abstain. It’s as simple as that. And for Pete’s sake, stop pointing fingers at the government for every little mishap that happens in life – we are in a democratic country and the major decisions we make in life are not being dictated to us by some outside force. I refuse to agree with those who keep on putting the blame on others for their condition in life, we must take full responsibility for our lives and our actions.

Well, anyway, the bottom line of all that isn’t really poverty or an inutile Philippine government, but a naturally sinful and hardened heart that is being overruled by the king of this age, Satan. As each day passes by since that fateful one, I cannot help but feel discouraged at how I have let my chance to evangelize to that poor young girl slip by. I should have been more watchful and alert and I should have known better than to just let the clock tick by. I was so confident that she would stay with us, with that in mind I thought also that I could start ministering to her in the next few days as she sort of acclimatize to our environment. Oh well… Another lesson learned the hard way, huh?

On another note, I thought was going to announce some good news soon because of a seven day delay in my menstrual cycle. I was almost convinced that Warren and I were about to bring forth another wretched sinner into this world (yeah, in case some of you still don’t know, babies are wretched sinners, too) because it was the first time I ever experiened such delay. Turns out I was just anemic, our family doctor prescribed some iron medications to remedy that. And I am not supposed to be up in the middle of the night, but what can I do? I keep on waking up at 2AM and not falling back asleep until 4AM.

I know Warren also posted pictures of our bikes yesterday. Did you see that three-wheeled bicycle Bruce was riding on? We were thinking we need to augment our income, fully and solely relying on Warren’s job might not be a good idea since we also need to fund our ministry on top of our own needs. We have to have our fallback and Warren and I agreed that putting our current resources to use would be smart. I am a kitchen-person and through the months we’ve been married, Warren had spoiled me rotten with kitchen appliances which I so love, love, love because I like to experiment on and with food. I have been making homemade peanut butter for quite sometime now and what I earned from the last batch is enough to fund another project – cooked breakfast for schoolchildren and employees and afternoon snacks for everyone. I will ask Warren to take photos of our new venture as soon as we launch it so you’ll see. He also funded my “wheeled fresh fruit store”, we hired our neighbor to do the selling for us. :)

This is life in the country. Who could ask for more? When I step back and look at what our life has become over the last nine months, I can’t help but be in awe – God faithfully provides for our needs, we have a healthy marriage founded on His Word and love, a ministry that we deeply care for and so much more in between. We are God’s blessed children. Truly, we are.
