Yesterday Juan and Maria didn’t show up for their counseling. I wasn’t surprised. This early afternoon Hazel and I went to the city to do some chores. I finally closed my bank account because it had no money left. I then withdrew all the remaining amount to my wallet. All we have is just a month’s survival. We are officially broke…again that is. Now that we’re broke, the more we couldn’t afford to attend to our main church in Manila. We have no choice but to attend to the nearby church here in the province.
As we were de-prioritizing several plans to get home early for the Bible study, nobody showed up. Everyone was so busy with their own reasons. I don’t know if whether they’re interested or whether the full-gospel church in the area here told them not to attend our Bible study. Not even Juan or Maria showed up. I was down-hearted.
As I was contemplating I asked Hazel “why are we here if God isn’t going to use us?” She replied “you showed them who Christ is, and now they just rejected Him. It shouldn’t be a surprise.” She then rebuked me for being down-hearted. Now it is not easy to receive rebukes from your own wife. But all I had in mind was I deserved this anyway. Suddenly as Hazel was continuing her rebuke, I was reminded that last night I was endorsed by a friend (a fellow John MacArthur fan) to another friend. And they’re conducting Bible studies in their area as an outreach of the church that we are currently attending. They were hoping that I’d lead some of their studies using John MacArthur materials. If I get invites I intend to use the current study we are having here. So we’ll see where the Lord will bring us from here. But our Bible study in our house should still be open for everyone.
