I Left My Heart At…

It’s been three days since and I am still left without words to say.
Perhaps these pictures would tell a million and one more than I can…

This is where the Young Married group of Calulut Baptist Church went to last Saturday.
It was a journey that most of us will remember for a long time.
Brace yourselves for the next images…

Two of the children we’ve seen inside the center.
I wish I could publish this without the eye-cover so that you will see the emotions that lurk beneath their eyes.

WARNING: Next images NOT for the faint-hearted…

This two-month old baby girl was left in a local public hospital severely malnourished.

This little child has facial deformities and she’s missing some toes and fingers as well.

This young boy is just one of the children with special needs left in the orphanage.

Crying himself to sleep…
This little boy is afflicted with cerebral palsy. According to his caretakers, this is his way of rocking himself to sleep.
I can’t help but think about the warm arms that should be cradling him to sleep… Where could she be?

Does she also cry herself to sleep at night thinking about the baby she abandoned?
Or maybe not…
But does she ever think about those women whose hearts weep with yearning…

Who beg to the Lord night and day to be given the chance

To wake up to a child’s smile and laughter…

To nurture and to love a child,
To hold a baby in their loving arms,
To rock one to sleep, to feed with their own hands…
To fully know and experience MOTHERHOOD.

Does she?
If you are the woman who abandoned her child,
My heart bleeds for your soul more than it bleeds for the child you did not want to love.
You don’t know what you’re missing.
You don’t know the gift that you threw away.
You are like a swine who do not know pearls from filth.
May God have mercy on your soul.
